Gretchen O’Brien, MA
Gretchen is a post-master’s therapist and received her master’s degree from Wake Forest University in Clinical Mental Health and a B.A. in Psychology and Anthropology at Colby College. She provides individual counseling for children, adolescents and adults presenting with various disorders and problems, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, grief and loss, relational concerns, life-stage transitions, substance use, and trauma. She also works with couples and families and received her Level 1 training from the Gottman Institute for couples.
Her orientation as a psychotherapist is eclectic, meaning she draws from several theoretical perspectives including: Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive-Behavior Therapy, Client Focused Therapy, trauma-informed, Gottman Theory, and Relational Cultural Theory. Gretchen provides an integrative approach that is collaborative and tailored to the individual needs of the client. She seeks to help clients discover their potential and learn skills and strategies that will help them achieve their goals through empowerment and providing conditions for personal growth.
